La paganella
The Song of Paganella in dialect:
Voria veder el Trentino
Da 'na vista propri bella.
No 'sto a perder massa tempo
E va' su la Paganella.
Paganella, Paganella,
va la su, va la su, va la su,
ma fa priè non perder temp.
This popular traditional mountain choir song, is the answer to someone who asks why he should
visit Trentino and it means: «don't loose time searching, come immediately up to Paganella». In
proverbs and popular songs lives wisdom, based on time and experience, therefore, above
reply is not just at random.
Whoever climbs on top of the Paganella, will be amazed by the panorama, in summer as well as
in winter. Thanks to its altitude (2125 m.) and its wide view at 360°, you can admire the Brenta
group, the Cevedale, the alps of Venoste, the east Dolomites with the unmistakable profile of
the Catinaccio (Rosengarten), Lagorai and the prealps of Vicenza until the dorsal of mount
Baldo at south with the beautiful expanse of the Garda Lake. It is easy to be impressed and
affected by this wonderful sight, you can simply contemplate or have a beautiful walk across the
mountain paths in summer, otherwise you can come and ski on the 50 km of slopes in winter.
Paganella is the mountain of Fai, the town appears to be its appendix, the inhabitants live in and
from the mountain respecting its origins. The north side is soft and sinuous with its precious
livery of pine-trees, firs, larches, beeches and higher up rhododendrons and edelweiss are
blooming. At South it is e real massive wall and commands respect. It consists of limestone and
dolomite and well-known climbers like Bruno Detassis and Cesare Maestri started their careers
on its rocks.
